Miss vestal virgin Grenville Francis Beaumont who was murdered in that same book also appears, so this story apparently comes before Captives of the Night chronologically even though it falls later in the series. Dissolute noblemen like Ainswood are part of the problem, not the solution.
I don’t know, it’s like I liked it, but it was just chaxe much. This is one of my favorite Chases. She took a very unpleasant fact of life in the 18th century – one that is rarely addressed in romance novels – and created the base for a great pairing.

From there, it took on its own form and tone which in some ways was similar to Lord loregta Scoundrels but in other ways quite different, and although it didn’t entirely measure up to that perennial favorite for me, it was a very good story in its own right. It takes a while for Vere to realize that he bears no fault for the sad and unfortunate demises of his relatives, and that it is OK to be a “good” man.

Vere blames himself for not being able to save the child and abandons his responsibilities and embarks on his own ruination I lost count of the times I laughed at the witty and snappy remarks exchanged between Vere and Lydia, and I admit I had a silly smile on my face when I read heellion last line of the book. In the course of the story, we are re-introduced to every major character even the dead ones that has ever appeared in the previous four Chase historicals, for no other reason than just to have them there.
You’re a troublemaker, Lydia. In a cchase sort of way, I had liked him in both of those stories and was happy to see him finally get his own HEA. You can imagine the excitement lotetta year when the audiobook version of Lord of Scoundrels finally came out, with an almost perfect narration by Kate Reading.
Also, there’s a twist about Lydia’s parentage that took me by surprise. There is an expression in helpion country that goes something like: Gifting of the Helllion edition at the Kindle MatchBook price is not available. Mass Market Paperbackpages.

I love the strong characterization of the h — physically a veritable amazon and mentally very opinionated. Just finished reading this book for the third time, and I love it even more. Lydia does not pull any punches. I highly recommend this and plan on going back to the first 2 novels in the series. Doeu na alma sintam lloretta drama ler algumas coisas feitas por Lydia. Mallory gets a whole whomp of baggage, up front, and sorts it out while pursuing Lydia at a breakneck pace once very nearly literally. You can’t picture him as a hero?!
May I really can’t understand what I was thinking! Loretta Chase has a talent beyond romance. We met, Vere, Duke of Ainswood in the previous book and he came across as a bit of an ass Loretta Chase did a wonderful job showing how much he was affected by the row of deaths that took away his family, up to his beloved 9-year-old cousin, and even before I read the rest of the book, I KNEW he was one of the “good guys” and his “hellish” behavior was just an act.
Ok, nothing new to add, I’m simply hooked! I was totally for Vere because I kinda understood the sadness that always seem to be a part of his life. And tricky it gets! Fans of LC and of historical romance written with brilliant wit, intelligence and wonderfully realized characters will enjoy this immensely.

You have to read it, I simply loved that scene. This book was a treat. Did I mention I loved the nicknames they called each other, specially Vere. Both the hero and heroine had their own little ghosts as well as the loss of various older but not old enough to die loved ones to shoulder.
